Meet Beckham

I'd like to introduce the newest member of the MacDonald family. July 14, 2006 (a day before our wedding) Beckham, a purebred Boston Terrier, was born. Right now he's tipping the scales at 1.5lbs.

He will be available to us the weekend of September 9 but we're unable to take him that soon because we leave for our honeymoon a week later. We ha
ve sent our deposit and the breeder has agreed to look after him until we return. We're now both in the 'CAN'T WAIT' mode as we're very anxious to get him home!

Apparently the Storkworkers Union are on strike, so instead of him being delivered, we'll have to drive just north of Walkerton to pick him up.

"Goiter" an excited Cisco exclaimed after hearing the news of his new cousins arrival. We're not sure what he meant by that, but he sounded overjoyed. I'm sure they'll spend many a nights playing XBOX 360, listening to Pearl Jam, and drinking rye until sunrise.

Looking ahead to what Beckham might look like when he matures - we have gotten a hold of a picture of the stud that fathered him. Here's "Robbie".

We like what we see! We will have more pictures of our little guy after the weekend (they're emailing us better shots).

We Might Be Expecting!

Okay, so it's not what you think. We're seriously looking into 'having' a Boston Terrier. We fell in love with these dogs a while ago when we ran into a few that live around here. We've been doing a lot of research since and can't wait to pick one up.

The final decision will be made when we return home from our honeymoon. We're pretty sure we
found the right breeder.

We were THIS close to getting a dog around this time last year but the timing wasn't right. It was actually a tough decision, so you can understand our excitement now.

If you're unfamiliar with the breed here are some pictures below.

Tiana & Me

Just so ya know - she doesn't look like me because she's not mine. Mostly that's for my Mom ... I don't really need her calling me thinking she's a Grandma yet. Although I could have her convinced. It wouldn't be too hard. (Sorry Mum, just kidding!)

Danger Arrives In Canada!

Saturday night we all welcomed Tanya's husband, Danger, to Canada! It was great to finally meet someone we've heard so much about!

We'll make you an official HOSER soon enough dude! Pretty soon it'll be nothing but BEER, BACON, and HOCKEY.

Congratulations Tanya & Danger!

I apologize for not taking more pictures - especially of you two, but we were a bit busy showing him the wonders of the XBOX. I'm sure you understand!

HONEYMOON CANCELLED!!!

Due to a mold infestation and a change in management, we've decided to cancel our September honeymoon at the SECRETS EXCELLENCE resort in Riviera Cancun.

We've been keeping an eye on all the reviews from travelers on tripadvisor.ca over the past few weeks and its pretty clear that during this transitional period the same level of service associated with the SECRETS resorts isn't being met.

Additionally, there have been complaints about mold in all the rooms due to hurricane damage. Upon hearing this we called our travel agent and she informed us that Sunwing/Red Seal whom we booked through has just posted a STOP SELL due to this problem.

Anna Corbett from Escapes.ca - Skyland Travel Inc. has been amazing in trying to accommodate us.

We are now in the middle of booking our honeymoon at a resort with a much better appeal!

I'm new to this whole traveling thing so discovering tripadvisor.ca was great in getting real reviews from people that have visited particular resorts as recent as a week prior. At this point, I highly recommend taking the time to do your research on tripadvisor and booking online through escapes.ca - after shopping around they were cheapest for the same trip by as much as $500 at times.

Here's our new destination, AVENTURA SPA PALACE:

Got it!

Purchased today on EBAY.

Melissa can't contain her excitement and pure joy. I must agree. Good times.

Anyway, after attempting to lowball a few people with their $500 firm listings and getting absolutely nowhere, I decided to check out ebay.

I was keeping an eye on an XBOX 360 CORE system with under an hour to go. With about 15 minutes left in the auction, the action began. About 4 bidders were taking turns out bidding each other. I also had my eye on another auction, from the same seller, for the PREMIUM package. With about 5 minutes left to go in the auction, MMac and I were discussing the best plan of attack. We decided to place a bid with about 20 seconds left in the auction.

For some strange reason the CORE system was getting more bidding action than the PREMIUM system. So, still within my max bid range, I waited and watched. 20 seconds comes up, and I jump in with an extra $5 (US) bid from the current auction price - rendering whatever attempt, if any, close to impossible.

In the end the CORE system went for $2 (US) less than the PREMIUM system. Suckers!

Now, I'll just await the postman.

I'd like to thank a few people that allowed for this purchase to happen:

MMac & Jacqui. Turns out it was a good thing you didn't get to EB Games for the gift certificate!

Samantha & Clayton ... for putting up with the playful banter (well, mostly playful!) while the deal was getting set in motion.

..and of course, Melissa - Thanks very much for not making me wait until the system is obsolete (like originally planned!). Thanks Goose!

August Long Weekend In Mattawa

Well, we missed Voyageur Days for the first time - but we were able to get to Mattawa on the following weekend. My brother Joe joined us for some R&R, and for some not-so-productive fishing.

Joe, Landon, and I headed out to the twin bridges near Eau Claire and ended up with catching a few fish. (The camera didn't seem to work whenever we landed a decent sized fish)

Joe & I also took a little tour out to the Otto Holden generating station.

Melissa's Mom, Donna, gave Jaden a poolside ear piercing session. Jaden showed how tough she is and only wanted to 'run' after they were done. Didn't hurt a bit eh?!

Sunday evening Joe and I headed over to Melissa's fathers place. Spike showing us his selective beer preference.

...and here's Spike looking a little 'buzzed'!

After Larry's, it was off to Jimmy's where you're greeted by Bubble Head the 20 year old Goose,

...and Turkey Lurkey. They're best friends BTW and follow each other around the property - the Turkey being Bubble Head's muscle if bothered.

Oh yeah, the pony - didn't catch his name.

We finally got to meet Emma!

Matt & Tiff dropped by and brought 7 month old Emma along. She enjoyed a quick dip in the pool and of course, a few sips of Daddy's beer! (Daddy's little girl for sure!)
